Tallahassee Town Hall: Democracy in America

Wed. 13 Mar, 2019 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm

There’s nothing more quintessentially American than a town hall meeting. Within its ethos is the important founding principle that political foes must grudgingly become partners as they engage conflicting ideas in order to govern. It’s the old-fashioned spirit of rolling up our sleeves and just getting it done. And this year features new commissioners you’ll want to get to know.

Ability1st Presents "Seven (X1) Samurai"

Wed. 13 Mar, 2019 6:30 pm

Ability1st and the Peyton Tuthill Foundation present
David Gaines' hilarious "Seven (X1) Samurai" which has sold out theatre festivals across the continent. The show features one actor, alone on stage, and recreates the experience of the epic film "Seven Samurai" in about an hour. Enjoyed by audiences and critics alike, it's been described as "part Chaplin, part Looney Tunes and more than a little Cirque de Soleil."

Mr. Gaines teaches theater at George Mason University. He currently tours his two most recent solo performance pieces: the circus-themed "A Little Business at the Big Top", and the award-winning samurai epic "Seven (X1) Samurai".

"The Mighty Ted" takes an unflinching and humorous look at Ted Waltmires experiences after suffering a stroke at 56. Its an inspiring musical journey through the highs and lows of dealing with hospitals, therapy, retirement, social security and ultimately re-discovering how to live life fully with the love and support of friends and family.

Ted Waltmire studied improv at Chicago's acclaimed Second City and has served as the musical director for community and college theaters in the Chicago area.
