Position Description for

FIMR Program Coordinator and Outreach Specialist

The Fetal and Infant Mortality Review (FIMR) Program Coordinator and Outreach Specialist will be responsible for all aspects of the FIMR project, including facilitating monthly Case Review Team (CRT) meetings. The FIMR project analyzes local infant and fetal death cases and presents findings. The goal of the FIMR project is to use local findings and data to make recommendations that may help to reduce infant mortality and improve the health and well-being of pregnant women and infants in our community. The FIMR Program Coordinator and Outreach Specialist is responsible for providing trainings and outreach to medical providers and the general community on findings, procedures, and services, available through the Coalition to help reduce infant mortality.

Specific duties of this position include, but are not limited to:

· Collect, compile, enter, critically analyze, and report data related to local and state infant mortality and infant and fetal deaths

· Coordinate with the medical community and other agencies to facilitate the process of abstracting local fetal and infant death records

· Work with the nurse abstractor in preparing cases to be reviewed

· Prepare and finalize cases to be presented and reviewed during monthly CRT meetings

· Facilitate monthly CRT meetings where the fetal and infant death cases are presented and discussed with community members

· Conduct interviews with women who have experienced a fetal or infant loss and who agree to be interviewed

· Facilitate FIMR Community Action Team (CAT) meetings at least quarterly

· Provide follow-ups to CRT and CAT meetings to include preparing minutes and processing data

· Prioritize and implement community initiatives was recommended by CRT and CAT

· Recruit CRT and CAT members as necessary

· Prepare in-depth Annual Report on FIMR findings

· Assist with agency special events

· Provide Prenatal and Infant Risk Screening trainings and overview of Healthy Start services to medical offices and hospitals

· Communication with the medical community regarding maternal and child health issues

· May assist with other community events

· May develop print material and presentations to be shared with the community

Participate in other CAHSC initiatives and programs. This may include, but is not limited to:

· Participate in conference calls, community meetings, and community events

· Attend trainings as required

· Other duties as assigned by supervisor

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

At least three years of professional experience in maternal and child health, public health, nursing, social services, or a related field is required. Knowledge and experience in medical terminology, pregnancy health, and infant health strongly preferred. Experience working with diverse communities, organizations, and agencies preferred. Must have a minimum of a 4-year college degree; experience may substitute for degree. Strong communication and writing skills are required. Strong ability to critically analyze and report data preferred. Proficiency in computer applications is required.

Compensation: $35,000 - $38,500
