ELC is seeking a committed and dedicated Community Relations Manager to join its Management Team. Candidates should embody ELC’s core values: positive attitude, accountability, respect, and teamwork. This position is responsible, for external and internal outreach, customer service, maintenance of community relationships, and fund development. This position will report to the Chief Operations Officer.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
Manage the agency’s participation in community and outreach events including, but not limited to, resource fairs, community outreach, provider recognition events, and other special activities
Supervise and direct the activities of staff, including interviewing, hiring/terminating, training, planning, assigning work, performance management, administering discipline, addressing complaints, and resolving problems
Create and training processes, procedures and plans for designated staff
· Develop in partnership with leadership the ELC’s fund development program
· Communicate service gaps and needs identified in the community to appropriate leadership and departments
· Manage the ELC’s volunteer and practicum program including recruitment, placement, orientation, supervising and reporting of all volunteer activities
Manage all efforts related to the “My First Books” program in all seven counties including the intake and distribution of children’s books (i.e., word garden and celebrity reader)
Develop and present programs, reports, presentations, tours etc. as needed
Assist leadership in building valuable community partnerships with community leaders, advocates, legislators, and other stakeholders
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
§ Bachelor’s degree in related field
§ Three years experience in community relations/outreach required
§ Three years of fund development experience required
§ Two years experience managing people to include supervising or coordinating work amongst volunteers and staff required
§ Excellent Communication (verbal and written) skills required
§ Demonstrative understanding of childcare programs, early childhood education, social service issues, community action programs, and/or serving low-income communities
Required Skills and Abilities:
Excellent customer service, computer, organizational and time management skills; ability to follow through on commitments and meet deadlines; successful candidates will also apply knowledge and understanding of regulations, policies, procedures, adapt readily to change, and facilitate decision making; excellent public speaking, planning, and training abilities; Bilingual (English and Spanish), a plus.
