Through rent-free housing and cooperative living, our client supports students who lack financial resources, demonstrate excellent academic merit, and exemplify good character attend institutions of higher education.

For more than 65 years, they’ve helped students achieve their dreams of attending their choice university. Their partnerships include Florida Gulf Coast University, University of Florida, Santa Fe College, Florida State University, Flagler College – Tallahassee, Florida A & M University, and Tallahassee Community College. While our client does not provide monetary based scholarships, they offer rent-free homes located near their partner institutions. They currently have 26 homes statewide and serve 470 students.

Reporting to the President/CEO, you will be responsible for building on a comprehensive fundraising and engagement program. You will be responsible for performing the following duties:

  • Direct and manage a comprehensive annual fundraising program including new donor development (with an emphasis on Alumni), renewals and stewardship.
  • Identify, cultivate, manage, solicit, and steward individual major donor prospects in collaboration with the President/CEO.
  • Implement and manage culture of philanthropy with the board of directors, staff, residents and key stakeholders.
  • Plan and implement donor cultivation and prospecting events including donor events (when safe), Giving Communities Gala, Progressive Dinner (scheduled for 2022) and sponsor letters from students, House Champion program and more.
  • Build, maintain, and nurture long-term relationships with individual, corporate and foundation donors.
  • Manage annual grant calendar and prepare grant proposals to secure from private foundations.
  • Plan and implement Alumni Events and support other organization-wide events.
  • Develop direct mail strategies to secure annual donations from current, lapsed, and non-donors.
  • Participate in budgeting and long-range planning in collaboration with the President/CEO, staff, and board of directors.
  • Represent organization at civic club meetings, community partners, donor events, and other public relations events when necessary.
  • Oversee and/or undertake donor stewardship activities.
  • Coordinate the Alumni Leadership Council.


Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Journalism, Business, Marketing, or related field and at least 5 years related fundraising experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

Excellent organizational and management skills, including a demonstrated ability to efficiently plan, organize, budget, and manage projects and events with limited direct supervision. 

Team player with a strong work ethic and must lead by example with high regard to professionalism, integrity, and working with a sense of urgency.

Strong ability to build relationships with both new and existing donors.  

Excellent knowledge of MS Office.

Familiarity with BlackBaud’s eTapestry is a plus.

CFRE designation preferred, or ability to obtain within 12 months of employment.

Occasional weekend and evening availability.

Minimum 2 years supervisory experience preferred.

Location: Tallahassee, FL. (During the COVID pandemic, some work may be performed remotely however in person office days will be required part of the week.)
