Meet the Team

AMBER R. TYNAN
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Amber R. Tynan is the Executive Director for United Partners for Human Services and has over 18 years of nonprofit management experience. She has spent most of her career consulting with nonprofits ranging in asset sizes of one million to five-hundred million - finding ways to improve their operational efficiency, while creating alternative solutions to meet the needs of their target demographic and local communities.

Amber has been recognized for her demonstrated commitment and performance in our nonprofit community as the Fundraiser of the Year by the Big Bend chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, "Leader of the Year" by the Leadership Academy of North Florida, Tallahassee Democrat’s 25 Women You Need to Know, Golden A.C.E. Recipient, the Tallahassee Magazine’s Women Who Mean Business Rock Star Award Recipient, Girl Scout Council of the Panhandle’s Women of Distinction Nominee and a member of Leadership Tallahassee Class 35.

A philanthropist at heart, Amber enjoys volunteering within the community and serves on multiple boards sharing her personal philosophy of “together we’re better.” Amber is a graduate of Florida State University with a B.A. in English and Communication. Amber and her husband Ray welcomed their daughter Finnley-Ann Harper in 2016 and when she is not at the office, you can usually find Amber SCUBA diving or on their boat in the Gulf of Mexico.

LASHAWN GORDON
DIRECTOR, STRATEGIC INITIATIVES

Lashawn Gordon is the UPHS Director of Strategic Initiatives. Lashawn brings extensive experience in nonprofit management, community engagement, leadership and program development to her role at UPHS. She has worked in the human services sector for the last 18 years; most recently as the Program Director at PACE Center for Girls, Leon.

Lashawn combines excellence and integrity with innovation to meet the needs of our community and we couldn't be more excited to have her serving the needs of our members. Upon accepting the position, she shared "This is an amazing opportunity and a huge blessing to be joining the UPHS family. I look forward to working with our human services community and serving our members!"

She is a member of Leadership Tallahassee (Class 34) and currently on the Board Directors for UPHS Member, PACE Center for Girls, Leon.

JUSTIN FITZPATRICK
MEMBERSHIP & COMMUNICATIONS COORDINATOR

Justin joins us with experience within the human services nonprofit sector, most recently serving as the Community Relations Director for We Are All We Need, Inc. (WAAWN) - a UPHS Member Agency. 

Born and raised in Tallahassee, Florida, Justin is a product of Leon County and all it has to offer. An alumnus of Florida A&M University with a degree in Music, he has worked with numerous organizations and businesses in the areas of social media development and management, website building and multimedia creation, as well as fostering community-based collaboration through the Village at WAAWN. 

He is passionate about giving back to his hometown, and shining a light on nonprofit organizations that are truly making a difference, for the world to see.

TRENT SMITH
RWC-340B MANAGING DIRECTOR

Trent Smith is the Managing Director for RWC-340B under UPHS and brings experience from both the nonprofit and for-profit sectors, having worked within the Southern Scholarship Foundation Community and then as Director of Student Affairs before expanding his career to operations within two national student housing companies. Trent has also served in various Director roles for more than 10 years with Hugh O’Brien Youth, a volunteer-based youth leadership organization.

Trent has a passion for creating and innovating processes that help his teams succeed, and hopes to establish measurable goals that will make a difference not only in this role but for the organization as a whole.

With a degree in Finance and having served in both administrative and operations roles, Trent understands the delicate balance of investing resources where they are needed for short- and long-term growth, and strives to find opportunity in those challenges.
